Every. Fucking. Day.

While I’m generally dismissive of New Year’s Resolutions, self-improvement, and optimism in general, one thing I’m NOT dismissive of is: habituation.

You want to get better at something? You gotta do it. A lot. Preferably no less than daily.

I don’t think I’m terrible at writing, but I could be a lot better. So, one of my goals for 2017 is to simply get a post a day up at this goddamned website I’ve kept running in some form or another for 20 years now. One of my (many) flaws as a writer is a desire for perfection, to be too precious about what, let’s be honest, are pretty ephemeral pieces of literary flotsam that are only read by a tiny audience to begin with. If I had an editor, that previous sentence would just be reduced to: It’s not like I’m fucking Hemingway over by here (in either possible meaning of that phrase).

So. Going to give this an honest whirl. If nothing else, the political landscape, both domestically and internationally, should give me grist for a post a day, even if some of those posts are just “FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” written over and over in various ugly fonts.

Let’s see how this goes.
